costume and props research
Based on the artist I have decided to use for my double page spread they have to have a style which is popular but unique at the same time, this could mean a popular item styled to be their own, I based Kristen Collins' style, in my mind, on Jade Thirwall from little mix, who wears clothes that are popular like jeans and a t-shirt and then adds her own thing to it, for instance she wears suspenders a lot with a popular outfit to make it her own. Her outfits are also really easy to re-create as I have seen as I try and find similar items for my own artist. Kristen also makes a link to Taylor swifts award dresses which are always very classic and are all very pretty, and I may take a photo of Kristen in similar clothing.
Readers profile
The audience who would read 'pop station' would likely be a young female audience as I believe the Pop genre is aimed more at females and therefore that is who I would want to aim my magazine at, rather than aiming it at a minority of males who read pop music magazines, It will be aimed at young people because pop music is a younger generation thing, it is often very popular with a younger audience and therefore the people who would want to read about it would also be young. It would be aimed at the sort of girl who likes artists from the pop genre as that is what the magazine is based around. They are not going to be an audience who enjoy alternative music as this magazine would not appeal to them as it wont vary from the Pop Genre. My audience would fall into the demographic category of E- unemployed, pensioners or children as they are students or children.

second draft of double page spread article
Big, new artist of the week!
20 year old singer, songwriter Kristin Collins is taking the UK by storm following the release of her first album, 'Alone again' and her 5 week number 1 song 'Lost in the darkness', we managed to sit down with her for a chat about inspiration, fame and family.
I:So Kristin, nice to see you!

I:So Kristin, nice to see you!
K: Hey
I: Okay, first thing is first, what was the inspiration for your brilliant song, 'Lost in the darkness'?
K: It's mostly about trying to make the best out of a bad situation, which I have been forced to do a lot since my mum died and my two little sisters were put into care when I was 18, I got pretty lonely and the only thing that got me through it was my music and my busking in London to make my money because I couldn't get a job at the time, people were so generous and I wanted to thank everyone who gave me money and to try and help anyone who was in a similar situation.
I: I heard you were setting up an online advice page, is this true?
K: Yeah, It's still in the finishing stages but it should be up soon, I wanted it to be a safe place where people can tell others their problems and other people can give them support and advice and we could create our own little community where we help those who need the help.
I: What is it like being recognised on the street now that you have been at number 1 in the UK charts for 5 weeks and are at the 3rd spot in the US?
K: It is so weird, I'm not used to it yet, and I don't expect to be anytime soon, it can be really flattering because people come up to me and tell me that they love me and that I'm their idol and I'm sort of like "Ahh! I don't even know you but... thanks?" and I certainly cant just play in the streets any more because the crowds get too big and it get kind of unsafe.
I: How are your sisters feeling about your new success?
K: They are so happy for me but they really just want to be known as them and not as the sister of that singer, you know, they're at high school and want to live a normal teenage life rather than being approached and asked about me. Rosie is 15 and she is amazing but she is my biggest critic, after I performed live on T4 the other day she came up to me and said "you were off pitch today, work on that", she is so mature for her age and she really knows what she's talking about, luckily Clara isn't so critical.
I: We here at 'Pop station' really love your style, who is your style icon?

K: Jade Thirwall, from little mix, has one of my favourite styles as she knows what fits her and suits her well and she makes everything she wears look beautiful and effortless, another is probably Taylor Swift because she wears such glamorous dresses to perform in and to all these different award ceremonies.
I: Is there anyone famous who you have met who you 'fangirled' over?
K: I met Josh Hutcherson the other day because apparently his younger brother Connor is a fan of mine and we met at a hotel we were both staying at in New York last week and I, being the complete die hard fan of the hunger games books and movies I am, kind of freaked internally but I think I called him Peeta instead of Josh at some point...
I: There have been some rumours that you are in a new relationship, actually there are quite a few rumours about you being in relationships, with the likes of Jay McGuiness from the wanted, George Shelly from union j and also Skylar Astin.
K: I have only met George out of all three of those and we aren't in a relationship, however they are all very handsome and you know, I wouldn't mind if they were to ask me on a date or something (Kristin chuckles to herself) I hadn't heard the Skylar Astin one, he is an amazing actor!
I: well thank you for your time, everyone here from 'Pop station' wishes you the best of luck with the new song coming out on the 8th September 2014.
