Analysing existing school magazines
Analysing existing school magazines.
- Title shows the name of the school but nothing else, not very original.
- Title could have been chosen so that the school is known, and people know they have the right one.
- pictures show part of the school, the school emblem and pictures of the prom (that links to the contents), and pictures of students.
- These pictures may have been chosen to make the school recognisable (the emblem and recognisable faces of students).
- Feature stories about Prom, new rooms/decorations, debates that are well known and tips that effect everyone.
- There is a very vague colour scheme of blue and red however the photo being a background sort of contradicts this as it contains greens and reddish browns.
- Issue number is included along with a bar code to make it look authentic.
- All different fonts, not replicable to other issues, also does not look professional.
- 'The Sixth Degree' suggests it is a sixth-form magazine, but it is imaginative and is tag-lined 'the ultimate student guide'.
- The pictures on the magazine either link to the content of the magazine or show a student or work.
- There is a black and white colour scheme and though it is a bit boring it works because the words show up well on the background.
- Shows the usual sixth-form issues (exam results and university applications) along with special offers, student's stories and reminders for school events.
- There is an issue and volume number on the magazine which makes it look professional.
- The title is in a different font and size to the rest of the writing and this makes it really stand out on the cover, however the rest of the magazine has the same font and size which makes it look more professional and consistent.
- The title is 'The Revue, the Ryedale school magazine' is a long and slightly boring title but it does identify the exact nature of the magazine.
- Shows multiple pictures of students and the emblem of the schools. they would be useful in a newsletter or magazine like this which appeals to parents as they don't want funny pictures like the others have.
- Focuses on the serious side of the school with the GCSE results, school developments and school partnerships being the main features of the magazines.
- There is a blue and white colour scheme which works well in my opinion as the blue catches your eye better than black writing would.
- There is an issue number which make it look professional and it is set out in paragraphs, which, though boring for students will be good for parents.
- They use a different font and size for the title to draw the eye but other than that the font is consistent throughout the magazine cover.
